About the Crosswalk

How does it work?

The EMT Crosswalk is a large cross-reference table which shows the relationships between the practices of:

  • CMMI for Development® v1.3
  • the ISO 9001:2015 standard
  • Scrum and Kanban agile practices
  • Scaled Agile Framework® 4.0

The format is based on the CMMI Process Areas and Specific Practices of each area. It is designed to be used to cross-reference CMMI practices with those of ISO 9001, Agile, and SAFe. It is not intended to be used without referencing CMMI.

How much do I need to know about CMMI, ISO 9001, Agile, or SAFe?

We recommend that you have intermediate knowledge or greater in the methodologies you are intending to cross-reference.

We strongly recommend that use this Crosswalk alongside the text of each methodology that you are cross-referencing. In particular, the included information from the ISO 9001:2015 standard is heavily abridged and intended for reference with the full text of the ISO 9001:2015 standard only. You can purchase a copy from the International Organization for Standardization's website.

Will it be updated?

The Crosswalk currently references:

We are planning to release updates to the Crosswalk for CMMI v2.0 "next gen" once the final model is released.
